Breakthrough

The ocean is the ocean. Nothing more, nothing less.

Things are not things because we wanted to be. They exist within their essence.

I always asked myself if the color red is the same for the eye of others. Probably not… Maybe if we could see with the eyes of other people we could see opinions, as they were ours. We would understand different points of view.

We would have compassion. Real compassion! The compassion that we show today is just pity reflected on our self-image. We must see with the eye of others to feel real compassion.

One day, I stopped at a red sign. A needed guy came to my window and I thought: “Oh no…” I gave the guy a few coins and then it hit me: “Why I did that? Why I gave him money?” Did I gave him money to help or I just paid him to go away?” One thing is for sure. Those coins that I gave him would not help that much…

Gandhi said: eye for an eye will make the world blind. That’s true.
Maybe when we start seeing with the eye of others, because nobody wants to lose an eye…

Gandhi’s mind is fairway from our minds. He already saw with our eyes and came back to his.

Ladies and Gents…The one and only…OUR EGO!

Fill in the blaks:
The mountain is an ocean. The ocean is a …….

As we all know, a mirror reflects the exact same image that stands in front of it. (Maybe if you are in an amusement park standing in front a funny mirror the statement above doesn’t apply… but you got the picture). The mirror doesn’t think, it just does. It’s his essence.

Our Real Ego is like a straight mirror; it doesn’t have a shape or even a filling. It just refects.

But our ego, ohhh…that’s different! Our Ego has a selfish consciousness that is really distant from our outside, a mere phenomenon from this finite world we live in.

Sometimes kindness stands in front of us and we reflect hate.

Sometimes love and hate stands in front of us and we choose only to reflect or give back hate, is like we have the ability to reflect only what is good for our interesting. (The real mirrors must be jealous!!! They can’t do that!!!)

Probably we would suffer a lot less if we could see death as life, bright as dark, a table as a flower and maybe love as love… The fact is we distort life for our ego’s benefit. (Maybe we live in an amusement park… with a funny essence).

The ocean is a ….

If we want to transform the world, we must first transform ourselves

I will use irony on this post; it seems to work better when confronting the obvious.

If we want something, we have to do the actions that lead us to that particular result. For example: If you want to walk through a wall, you have to walk towards the right door, open it and walk! Simple! We do things like that all the time. (That’s the obvious part I was talking before).

Moving forward with the obvious adding a little taste of irony…

Let’s say we all want something different then just walk from one place to another, let’s say for instance we want PEACE. So, like the previous example going to the other room was our objective, peace is now what we are focusing on.

You have to reach to the instrument that makes our objective possible; we have to open the door to peace. Ohhh I Know there isn’t such door… But if you curse people at traffic, lie (even a small lie counts), do things are good for you but bad to others you are locking the pass way to peace, its like you are putting heavy furniture in front of the door, making even harder to get to your objective.

The irony and the best part of life are that the title of a blog or a book always tells us the more important secrets. But the “ah… now I see” comes always after the whole reading.

Why?

Pursuit of a life

This Blog was created to alert and give information about things that matters to everyone but still obscure for the great majority of people. Things that we stand for. Sure we all have our particular problems that we must face everyday but we also have our common issues we must discuss and overcome. Attend to a friend’s birthday party is a social task we usually complete because it is fun and relaxing…

I am getting to the point.

Below is Nodire’s life story, which means 'unique' in Uzbek. She is little girl from Uzbek that have particular problems like us, but something else sits in her consciousness everyday.

Nodira is one of five children in a poor family. Every morning, after reciting her prayers, Nodira feeds the hens and goats from her wheelchair. The rest of her day is spent knitting for other people and helping her mother with the household chores. Nodira has never been to school because it is too far from her home and inaccessible for her wheelchair. A local teacher used to come and tutor her at home and, as a result, she was able to finish third grade. After that, her parents moved to another town and the tutor's visits became more sporadic. Despite the many difficulties and frustrations that plague Nodira's life she is fortunate to be living with her family. The stigma attached to children living with disabilities, combined with the lack of wheelchair access in schools and the economic difficulties faced by many Uzbek families following the collapse of the Soviet Union, have led many parents to place children with disabilities in special institutions. In fact, of the 23,000 children in institutional care in Uzbekistan, 19,626 have disabilities. These days, Nodira does homework exercises at home and reads as much as she can. Still, it is unlikely that she will be able to finish her primary education, much less attend university. While missing out on an education is a great disappointment to Nodira, her greatest wish - a true friend - can still come true.

"What I want more than anything is a friend who also has a disability," she says. "Somebody to talk to that will not feel sorry for me or make fun of me, somebody who will understand what my life is like."
Nodire has great problems as you can see. But the pursuit of her life is to have a friend. Maybe we can attend to Nodire’s next birthday party, or better, throw her a party! I know… UzbeK is really far… But we all know many Nodires that live real close, don’t we?

Like our personal friends, they would like to have us on their birthday parties… in their lives.

Our Water - Twestival

On February 12th 2009, 202 cities around the world held Twestivals, bringing together the Twitter community for an evening of fun and to raise money and awareness for charity: water.

Charity: water is a non-profit organization bringing clean, safe drinking water to people in developing nations by funding sustainable clean water solutions in areas of greatest need.
Right now 1.1 billion people on the planet don’t have access to safe, clean drinking water. That’s one in six of us.
Unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation cause 80% of all sickness and disease, and kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war.

Many communities in developing nations often have a plentiful supply of clean drinking water just below the ground, but no way to get to it.
This is where charity: water and their partner organizations come in. Drilling a well can cost from $4,000 - $12,000 USD and many living on less than $1 a day cannot afford one in their community, even if the money is combined.
Twestival cities might consider setting a goal to raise enough money from their event to fund a well project in a developing country, starting at $4,000 USD.
We all know that Twitter can be a powerful communications tool. It can connect, mobilize and inform people around the world instantly.
Those of us on Twitter know of its ability to organically create interesting communities from those people who find and follow each other. It is proven from the first Twestival that bringing the Twittersphere together for a special event is not only a memorable night; it has momentum to bring about social change.

MindFlow donated a song to Twestival FM to help raise money to charity: water. The song chosen was Breakthrough that in its lyrics holds the very special essence of this campaign: a significant and dramatic overcoming of a perceived obstacle, allowing the completion of an objective.

Be a Do Gooder

So you’ve noticed that the world could use a little more kindness. So have we! Surfing at ANH Global website (Alliance for New Humanity) we found out about Daily Challenge.

Daily Challenge is a social network, but more importantly, it is an answer to something missing in the world. Daily Challenge suggests acts or ‘challenges’ that members can take into the real world to positively impact themselves and their communities.
The concept behind Daily Challenge is very simple: Do one good, daily. We believe that when many people perform random acts of kindness on a daily basis, lives change: those of the participants, their communities and in time, it’ll be felt across the globe.

The Alliance for New Humanity, represented by Deepak Chopra, one of the world’s greatest leaders in the field of mind-body medicine, face the mission to connect people, who, through personal and social transformation, aim to build a just, peaceful, and sustainable world, reflecting the unity of all humanity.

We are all human

BELEM, Brazil, Jan 27 (IPS) - A human banner made up of more than 1,000 people, seen and photographed from the air, sent the message "SOS Amazon" to the world, in the first action taken by indigenous people hours before the opening in northern Brazil on Tuesday of the 2009 World Social Forum (WSF).

The mass message reflects the concern about global warming:

"We are raising our voices as a wake-up call to the world, especially the rich countries that are hastening its destruction," said Edmundo Omoré, a member of the Xavante indigenous community from the west-central state of Mato Grosso on the border between the Amazon region and the Cerrado, a vast savannah region in the centre of the country.

In this situation, indigenous people should have political participation as of right, not "as folklore or as a merely cultural contribution," Espinoza, one of the coordinators of the indigenous peoples' presence at the WSF, told IPS.

Furthermore, "we are the first to suffer the effects" of climate change. Rich people can cool themselves down with air conditioners and buy food in supermarkets, but "we depend on the fish in the river and the animals in the forest, so we are concerned about the future that belongs to everyone," added Batista. (END/2009)

If we keep destroying our planet and taking more than we need, obviously we will end up with nothing, and as a human tradition, we will destroy ourselves.

Do your part! You are human too!

Why?

FGV (Getúlio Vargas’s Foundation) put together a study indicating that 53% of the Brazilian population doesn’t have access to basic sanitation and if based on the progress made along the country’s history, the problem will be completely solved on the year 2122.

On the other hand the public machine grew. According to the government, on the first 3 years of the actual administration, more than 37,500 new political ranks were created with no further explanation. The spends pass over US$ 300 millions with all that people.

Problems like lack of basic sanitation for more than half of the people living in Brazil, poverty and no access to medical care are not new issues in Brazilian history.

So we can’t help but to ask why spend US$ 300 millions creating 37,500 new inside the government jobs when you can invest this money to solve problems or, at least, to extinguish the suffering from the more needed? This question may sound naïve, and the government probably has a very wise answer.

But the fact remains…

Apparently, for some unknown reason, the government prefer to grow than to do the job they were hired to.

They prefer to become fat, leaving the children thinner.
