We are living in a era where we became extremely peaceful with facts that should be making our heart turn into pieces.
We lost the ability to react! We accept atrocities, injustice, lack of honesty and principle considering all just “normal”.
I keep asking myself if “normal” means that those bad things are common in our society or we just are evil as the facts.
Trusting in my instinct I am compel to keep talking about the lack of manhood showed by politicians here in Brazil. As wrote on the last post, José Sarney, Senate’s president is still on duty as if nothing happened. A thief sitting on the chair that represents justice. Is there something more absurd? And yet we do nothing, all just seems normal...
Facts like this should make the people take the streets and fight for justice and what is right. We should carry the truth inside our words and hearts.
Let us turn this time of injustice in a time of honesty. Let us fight for what is right. Enough with the wrong things considered normal. Normal is to be right and correct!

It won't last forever... Amazon Rainforest
The Amazon forest is being reduced to ashes for years.
Even though the Brazilian senate has just approved a law that gives the right to companies and people that had invaded it years ago to legally explore more of this precious land. More than 190,271,143 acres will be affected by this new law (3 times the extension of the state of Sao Paulo, in Brazil).
The law is favorable for big and medium companies, which will purchase 88.5% of this land that used to be property of the government, according to estimatives of environmentalists. (Property of the government used to mean our property, it is nation’s land!)
It is though very clear why the Brazilian government has approved this absurd law in times that we should be finally evolving in this matter. Most of the governors, the people in charge of the country, are financed by these companies, or even own it.
Using the excuse that they want to organize the situation better in the Amazon, they are in reality working one more time to benefit themselves in exchange of the peoples’ and nation’s welfare.
This rotten Brazilian government can only think on how each one can selfishly profit, even by illegal acts (which are not a few) or by fooling the people’s that they so hardly work to keep uneducated.
But this kind of decision affects not only the country but the entire world.
At this rate of deforestation, the next generation will only be able to see the forest on the internet, books...

Obligatory Morality class
As we observe our world evolve, we can watch critical changes happen on family values, education and morality.
When my parents were expecting their first child, my mother decided to stop working so she could take care of her child’s education, even with she having a college degree and a good job. She once told me she couldn’t stand having a babysitter spending more time with her baby than she did, because she thought it was extremely important to teach her kids everything she have learned, instead of having a “strange” that she had no idea of her past taking care of their education.
And that was something most families still used to do some years ago. At least here in Brazil.
Nowadays that’s nearly impossible. The life cost is way higher now. The public schools here are terrible and many are dangerous, what makes all the families that have a chance assign their kids on private schools. The public hospitals are very bad as well, what obligates them to have a private health care plan. Baby supplies are very expensive, as is food, and so on....
Most of the families now with a little child can’t afford to have one of the parents (the mother or the father) stop working to take care of the kids.
So we have now a lot of parents that don’t have time to spend with their children. The only time they have available is at night, when both are tired, and some on the weekends. A lot of kids are being educated by the internet, television, babysitters, teachers, friends, etc. The parents don’t have time to pass to their kids their own values, morals and educate them right, what is generating, to my eyes, a lot of problems.
We can notice a lot of young girls that don’t understand the real value of a sexual relation. Some people, after graduate at high school, don’t even try to get in a college or start working on something, and decide just to live at their parents expense with no ambition in life at all. Some people haven’t learn how wrong it is to “hurt” other people (not only physically), or to don’t pay for their mistakes. And things like that.
Thinking about how important family values and morality have been to society, I don’t know why they haven’t created yet an obligatory class for all the school and college levels, with a representative number of hours, for teaching those subjects: family values and morality. That would exist to assume the role many parents aren’t being capable of assuming. The teacher should be a psychologist or psychopedagogist able to create a bond with all the students, to talk to them, to teach the importance of doing the right, of being right, of fighting for the right. Nothing theoretical, but like a group counseling. Not linked to any kind of religion at all, just showing how to be a better person and things that, in the future, will make a difference to the kids. If it’s rightly done, it would be the solution of many problems in the world.

Don’t ever let the wrong get by
As a Brazilian citizen we are used to see and hear about corruption everyday.
It is everywhere, but mostly in our government and governmental institutions. Our president party, the “PT” or “Partido dos Trabalhadores”, and most of his close friends, have been accused and condemned of serious crimes, mostly of stealing the nation’s money originally destined to health, education and other fundamental necessities. Anyway, Lula remains in the power with one of the greatest public acceptance ever.
I can’t understand it. How can the politicians of a country with thousands of kids dying everyday of hunger steal from it’s own people to buy castles, mansions, helicopters, to satisfy their luxury? How can they see a little kid starving and don’t feel guilty about it? They are directly killing them. The same thing with our health: thousands and thousands of people dying of “dengue”, a disease very close to the yellow fever, because of the poor situation of the hospitals the government maintain so they and all their parents can have the car of the year. One of the richest country in the world with one of the biggest miserable population.
Even so, the public acceptance is better than ever. That’s because most of our people aren’t educated, and the politicians are happy to keep it this way. So they can, with a few bucks, with programs like “bolsa familia”, buy their votes and acceptance. I just can’t understand how can they live with themselves.
And we are all so used to it that nobody do nothing.
We who are educated and can see what is really happening and do nothing about it, we too are guilty of this situation. We have to fight against it. We can’t accept it. We have to protest, to show everyone our point of view, do what we can to change our country and our world. Because it’s ours too, and if we don’t change it, nobody will. We are the makers!

Why?
FGV (Getúlio Vargas’s Foundation) put together a study indicating that 53% of the Brazilian population doesn’t have access to basic sanitation and if based on the progress made along the country’s history, the problem will be completely solved on the year 2122.
On the other hand the public machine grew. According to the government, on the first 3 years of the actual administration, more than 37,500 new political ranks were created with no further explanation. The spends pass over US$ 300 millions with all that people.
Problems like lack of basic sanitation for more than half of the people living in Brazil, poverty and no access to medical care are not new issues in Brazilian history.
So we can’t help but to ask why spend US$ 300 millions creating 37,500 new inside the government jobs when you can invest this money to solve problems or, at least, to extinguish the suffering from the more needed? This question may sound naïve, and the government probably has a very wise answer.
But the fact remains…
Apparently, for some unknown reason, the government prefer to grow than to do the job they were hired to.
They prefer to become fat, leaving the children thinner.
